Maple Sage Latte

Maple Sage Latte

Maple Sage Latte

Wow, we can’t believe how much this recipe has been asked for! After we posted a few pictures of this gorgeous latte on our Instagram, the requests came pouring in—and we’re so happy to share it with you.

What makes this drink perfect for summer is its balance of sweet and savory. It’s incredibly simple to make and as a bonus you can use espresso, hot coffee or iced coffee to craft it just the way you like.

Ingredients

1/2 cup coffee, iced coffee or 1 shot of espresso
1 cup milk of choice (oat and whole milk work best)
1 tablespoon of brown or coconut sugar
2 fresh sage leaves
1 pinch of cardamom (cinnamon works great if you haven’t got this spice on hand)

 Directions

Step 1 :Mix the sugar, sage leaves and milk together in your mug. If you have a frothier you can blend the ingredients together to extract more flavor.

Step 2: Pour in your preferred type of coffee, top with a pinch of cardamom and serve.

Note: For those who prefer their lattes very sweet, you can make a simple syrup with sage and sugar to use instead. Because the sugar is dissolved in the syrup it will blend into your drink more easily and is a great option for cold coffee.

For the syrup

Step 1: Mix 1/2 cup boiling water and 1/2 cup sugar in a heatproof glass or bowl.

Step 2: Add the sage leaves while still hot and let the mixture cool.

Note: Don’t worry about taking the sage leaves out- the longer they’re in there, the more the flavor they’ll infuse.

Step 3: After the syrup has cooled completely you can add 2 tablespoons of it to your coffee and top with milk.

Note: Don’t forget the pinch of cardamom, too! If serving over ice, make sure to use cold coffee instead so it doesn’t dilute.

The simple syrup can be stored at room temperature for up to a week. It can easily be added to your baked goods and all drinks coffee and cocktails. Enjoy!!
