Zoka was founded by Jeff Babcock, who has been perfecting his trade since 1983. In 1996, Zoka emerged during the third wave of coffee. We are now an established coffee roaster in the capital of coffee consumption. Our business is driven by quality and fueled by relationships. The growth we have seen in the past 20 years is thanks to the depth of our knowledge in coffee.
Jeff’s passion for coffee led him to be an international judge in the Cup of Excellence for ten years. Traveling to farms across Central and South America, Jeff selects the coffee beans to be roasted locally here in Seattle. These are beans that have won their national Cup of Excellence competitions and regarded as the highest quality beans available on the world market. Seattle was the birthplace of two successive waves of coffee. Through the rise of specialty coffee, Zoka has consistently been on the forefront of consuming ethically sourced and high quality coffee.
Based on our commitment to excellence, Zoka Coffee has won the World Barista Competition in 2002 and again in 2005. Our beans are fresh roasted everyday in the Seattle neighborhood of Ballard and delivered across the greater Seattle area. Zoka grew in popularity thanks to its cafes in the University District of Seattle.
Now, Zoka operates four cafes in the Seattle metropolitan area while roasting for its partners across the United States. As Zoka continues to grow, we strive to create a global community around excellent coffee.
